Our Staff
The strength of the Vermont Goaltenders Academy is our staff.  Many instructors have professional experience and all have competed and/or coached at the collegiate level.  Participants in the school receive direct instruction from one of these committed people at all times.  Their commitment to the development of young players will lead to an unforgettable experience for your child.  Some believe that they need to go out of state and spend lots of money to have a first rate experience.  We'd ask why?  We believe that our staff is the best in the country at a fraction of the price of most schools. 

Terry Lovelette (Director):  Terry is currently the goaltending coach with the UVM men’s team.  He  worked extensively with goaltenders in USA Hockey.

Brent Truchon (Director): A two time All-American goaltender at Middlebury College, Brent founded the Green Mountain Glades and was an assistant at Middlebury College following his playing career.

Christian Soucy (On-ice Director):  An All-American at UVM, Christian  played in the Blackhawks organization.  He is now the head coach of the Green Mountain Glades.  Christian has been a cornerstone of our school since it was founded 13 years ago serving as an on-ice director during each of those years.

Jeff Hill (On-Ice Director): Currently a coach with the Rice Knights, Jeff enjoyed a four year career at the University of Vermont and has been with VGA for 3 years.

James Tierney: (On-ice Director) James is now teaching and coaching following a solid four-year career at UVM.  He also worked as the on-ice director for the school’s youth group last year.

Becca Shaw: A VGA alum, Becca is a sophomore at Middlebury College playing goal for the Panthers.  We look forward to having Becca back this year.

Matt Welch: A VGA alum, Matt is a junior at Adrian College.  Matt has been an member of our staff for three years.  We look forward to having him back in 2010.

Mike Spillane:  Currently the starting goaltender at the University of Vermont, Mike has enjoyed an outstanding season with the Cats.  He has joined the staff this year doing clinics and camps throughout the season.

Tyler O'Brien:  A VGA alum,  Tyler is junior at Colorado College and is tending goal for their varsity team.  Tyler joined our summer team last year and is hoped to be back in 2010

Shivaun Siegel:  A standout at UVM, Shivaun worked for the camp last year with all of the age groups.  She did an excellent job.

Caitlin Brannon:  Another VGA alum, Caitlin played 4 years at St. Lawrence University.

Jake Thaler:  A VGA alum, Jake was a standout with the Green Mountain Glades before playing for Northeastern University in Hockey East
